Pac-12 champion Yun captures Sahalee Players Championship

Former Stanford star wins by one stroke over Bryson Dechambeau and Zachary Blair.

Andrew Yun, the 2012 Pac-12 champion who just finished his senior year at Stanford, shot a 2-over-par 74 Wednesday and won the Sahalee Players Championship at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish.

Yun finished the four rounds in 1-under 287 to win by a shot over Bryson Dechambeau and Zachary Blair. Third-round leader Bo Andrews fell into a tie for fourth, two shots behind Yun.

Many of the nation’s top amateurs compete in this event, and many winners have gone on to successful professional careers, including Puyallup’s Ryan Moore and Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley.

UW Husky sophomore Jonathan Sanders was ninth at 4 over. Charlie Hughes, who just completed his UW career, was tied for 15th at 7 over.

Olympia’s Cameron Peck, who just finished his career at Texas A&M, was tied for 23rd at 8 over. He won last month’s Washington Men’s Amateur.


• Seattle’s Green Lake Crew earned a two-length victory over Twickenham in the Thames Cup for club eights at the Henley Regatta in England.

• The Everett Silvertips acquired defenseman Matthew Pufahl and a fifth-round pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam draft from Saskatoon for defenseman Ayrton Nikkel.
