KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — While Bo Van Pelt was flirting with a rare 59 in a third round that was close to impeccable until his last hole, Tiger Woods was getting increasingly frustrated with his mistakes at the CIMB Classic.

Van Pelt shot a 62 Saturday on the par-71 Mines Resort and Golf Club course despite a double bogey on the final hole.

Defending champion Van Pelt hit his approach shot into a bunker and needed three putts on the last hole.

Five players have gone under 60 at a PGA Tour-sanctioned event; the CIMB Classic doesn't become a full-fledged PGA Tour event until next year.

Van Pelt and fellow American Robert Garrigus (69) shared the lead at 16 under. Chris Kirk (63) was one stroke behind.

Meanwhile, 14-time major champion Tiger Woods (69) had three bogeys and a double bogey on the back nine and was tied for 10th place at 11 under.

Woods said, "I was right there. I had plenty of easy holes to go, but I didn't capitalize on that at all. I made a couple of bad decisions, bad swings on top of that. On a golf course that's playing this benign, you just can't afford to do that."

Kyle Stanley (74) of Gig Harbor was tied for 43rd place at 213.
