“Draft Day” leads the kickoff of releases Tuesday, Sept. 2. Star ratings are by Seattle Times movie reviewers, freelancers or wire services. For full reviews, search the title at seattletimes.com. Release dates are subject to change.

★★½  “Draft Day” (PG-13): Kevin Costner takes a break from baseball movies to play the desperate general manager of the failing Cleveland Browns football team. The Seattle Seahawks play a key supporting role in the plot, which suggests how much intrigue and compromise have to do with final trading choices in football.

★★★  “Night Moves” (R): Filmed in Southern Oregon, Kelly Reichardt’s moody thriller follows three environmentalists — an organic farmer (Jesse Eisenberg), former society girl (Dakota Fanning) and troubled ex-Marine (Peter Sarsgaard) — who plot to blow up a local dam.

★★★★  “For No Good Reason” (R): Charlie Paul’s documentary spotlights artist Ralph Steadman, his unnerving artistic vision and his friendship with “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” author Hunter S. Thompson.

★★★  “Under the Electric Sky” (PG-13): This documentary follows the 2013 Electric Daisy Carnival, a three-day electronic-music fest that dances to its own beat.

★★  “Moms’ Night Out” (PG): A faith-based comedy starring Sarah Drew, Logan White and Patricia Heaton.
