Duwamish River Festival

Celebration of diversity and the cleanup and restoration of Seattle’s only river, with activities for all ages including free kayaking and boat rides, food, music, noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Duwamish Waterway Park, 7900 10th Ave. S., Seattle; free (206-251-2038 or duwamishcleanup.org).

Seattle beaches: Last weekend for lifeguards on duty, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, East Green Lake, Magnuson Park, Madrona and Pritchard Beach, Seattle, also, through Sept. 1, weather permitting; noon-7 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturdays Sundays, Matthews, Madison, Mount Baker, Seward, and West Green Lake beaches, Seattle (206-684-4075 or seattle.gov/parks/SummerGuide.htm).

Vashon Sheepdog Classic: More than 60 dogs daily compete in herding sheep; fiber arts, craft and food vendors, bring your own chair, binoculars; well-behaved, leashed dogs welcome, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday; Misty Isle Farms, Old Mill Road and Southwest 220th Street, Vashon; $8, ages 10 and younger free; shuttle bus available from ferry dock (vashonsheepdogclassic.com).

Celebrate Little Saigon: Vietnamese culture, food, community with entertainment, carnival games, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, 12th Avenue and South Jackson Street, Seattle (friendsoflittlesaigon.org/).
