Sunday Best: Christina Hendricks is simply stunning
A favorite from last year’s Emmys: Christina Hendricks, wearing a simple and timeless black Christian Siriano gown. Will the “Mad Men” star look as stunning on the red carpet Monday night?

The Emmy Awards are coming right up (Monday night, on NBC), so we should be seeing at least a few smashing frocks trailing along the red carpet. Here’s one of my favorites from last year’s Emmys: Christina Hendricks, wearing a simple and timeless black Christian Siriano gown. (She commented on the red carpet that the dress made her think of a John Singer Sargent painting — “Portrait of Madame X,” I’m guessing.) She looked stunning — and not a bit like Joan Holloway Harris, the role she’s played with cool perfection for six-and-a-half seasons of “Mad Men.” Will she finally win an Emmy this year, in her fifth nomination? And will she manage to find a dress that’s anywhere near as good as this one? The suspense is killing me.
