Activities for the weekend of Aug. 8-10, 2014, include South Lake Union Block Party, Kirkland Summerfest and ToGather Celebration of Cultures. Films opening include “The Hundred-Foot Journey,” “Into the Storm” and “Magic in the Moonlight.”

“The Hundred-Foot Journey”: Helen Mirren stars in this drama about an old-school French restaurant and the Indian restaurant that opens up across the street. It has late-night previews Thursday, Aug. 7, and opens Friday, Aug. 8, at several theaters.

“Into the Storm”: A new disaster movie that follows several groups of people in the path of a tornado. It also has late-night previews Thursday, Aug. 7, and opens Friday, Aug. 8, at several theaters.

“Magic in the Moonlight”: Colin Firth and Emma Stone star in the latest romantic comedy from Woody Allen. It opens Friday, Aug. 8, at several theaters.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”: Megan Fox and Will Arnett bring the human element to this latest incarnation of the action/adventure series. It has late-night previews Thursday, Aug. 7, and opens Friday, Aug. 8, at several theaters (at many in 3D).

“What If”: Daniel Radcliffe stars as a med-school dropout in love in this new film. It opens Friday, Aug. 8, at the Meridian 16.

“Happy Christmas”: An artsy couple (Joe Swanberg and Melanie Lynskey) are visited by the husband’s flaky sister (Anna Kendrick) in this new drama. It opens Friday, Aug. 8, at the Varsity.

“About Alex”: A drama about a group of college friends who reunite for a weekend. It opens Friday, Aug. 8, at the Sundance Cinemas.
