“Boyhood”: Writer-director Richard Linklater’s tale of a Texas family of four that grows up on-camera over a period of 12 years. It opens Friday, July 25, at the Harvard Exit and the Lincoln Square Cinermas.

“Lucy”: Luc Besson wrote and directed this new sci-fi action film starring Scarlett Johansson. It has late-night previews Thursday, July 24, and opens Friday, July 25, at several theaters.

“And So It Goes”: Rob Reiner’s comedy about second chances stars Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton. It opens Friday, July 25, at several theaters.

“A Most Wanted Man”: An adaptation of John le Carré’s 2008 novel that focuses on a Chechen/Russian fugitive. It opens Friday, July 25, at several theaters.

“I Origins”: Mike Cahill’s romantic/sci-fi movie stars Michael Pitt and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey. It opens Friday, July 25, at the Sundance Cinemas.

“The Pleasures of Being Out of Step”: A portrait of the jazz writer and First Amendment specialist Nat Hentoff. It opens Friday, July 24, at the Grand Illusion.

“Code Black”: Ryan McGarry’s documentary looks at the L.A. County Hospital emergency room. It opens Friday, July 25, at the Sundance Cinemas.

“Hercules”: Dwayne Johnson stars in the second film version of the Greek tale to hit theaters this year. Directed by Brett Ratner. It also has late-night previews Thursday, July 24, and opens Friday at several theaters (at many in 3D).
