Pirates, Pride, cars, art and nature | Community Corner

Community events for the weekend of June 28-29, 2014, include the Seafair Pirates Landing, Greenwood Car Show, Beacon Hill concert/art walk, Bellevue Strawberry Festival, and PrideFest and Seattle Pride Parade.

Seafair Pirates Landing

Seafair Pirates kick off the Seafair season, arriving by ship sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday, vendors, music, inflatable rides for kids, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Alki Beach Park, 1702 Alki Ave. S.W., Seattle (www.seafair.com).

Greenwood Car Show: Hundreds of classic cars, music, Kids Zone, vendors, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Greenwood Avenue North from North 90th Street to North 67th Street, Seattle (greenwoodcarshow.com).

Beacon Hill concert/art walk: Local bands, 1-4 p.m. Saturday; Bike Works bike rodeo and repairs, 1-3 p.m., Roberto Maestas Festival Street, 1600 S. Lander St., Seattle; art walk at 30 locations along Beacon Avenue South, 4-9 p.m. Saturday; free (www.rockitspace.org).

Beach naturalists: Explore the beach at low tide with Seattle Aquarium naturalists, drop in 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, noon-2:30 p.m. Sunday, Carkeek Park, Golden Gardens, Constellation Park/South Alki, Lincoln Park, Olympic Sculpture Park pocket beach, Seattle; Richmond Beach, Shoreline; Des Moines Beach Park and Saltwater State Park, Des Moines; free (seattleaquarium.org).

Big Day of Play: Paddling and boating demonstrations, music, entertainment, activities, creative play, cooking demonstrations, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Mount Baker Rowing and Sailing Center, 43rd Avenue South and Lake Washington Boulevard South, Seattle (seattle.gov/parks/).
