“Transformers: Age of Extinction”: The fourth in Michael Bay’s big-budget, sci-fi action series stars Mark Wahlberg. It has late-night previews Thursday, June 26, and opens Friday, June 27, at several theaters (at many in 3D).

“Snowpiercer”: A sci-fi epic set aboard a supertrain barreling through a dead, frozen Earth. It opens Friday, June 27, at the SIFF Cinemas Uptown.

“Le Chef”: Written and directed by Daniel Cohen, this new comedy is set in the world of French haute cuisine. It opens Friday, June 27, at the Harvard Exit.

“Evergreen: The Road to Legalization”: A documentary about the legalization of marijuana in Washington state. It opens Friday, June 27, at the SIFF Cinemas at the Film Center.

“Ivory Tower”: A new documentary from filmmaker Andrew Rossi looks at the cost of college. It opens Friday, June 27, at the Seven Gables.
