There will be blood, love and life stories among the DVD releases Tuesday, June 24. Star ratings are by Seattle Times movie reviewers, freelancers or wire services. For full reviews, search the title at seattletimes.com. Release dates are subject to change.

★★★  “300: Rise of an Empire” (R): “You want spectacle? By Zeus, ‘300: Rise of an Empire’ will give you spectacle. All you can handle, and more besides,” says movie reviewer Soren Andersen. “All of it — seas and skies, guts and gore — is digitally rendered and therefore highly stylized” in the sword-and-sandal sequel to 2006’s “300.” Starring Sullivan Stapleton and Eva Green, “Empire” finds the Athenian navy going up against the vastly more powerful Persian fleet.

★★★  “Enemy” (R): Jake Gyllenhaal stars in a dual role, as a history professor and an actor, each of whom is shocked to learn of the existence of his look-alike double. Things are never, however, what they seem in this psychological thriller.

★★★  “Rob the Mob” (R): Michael Pitt and Nina Arianda play a sort of Bonnie and Clyde of Queens, who target Mafia social clubs.

★★  “Winter’s Tale” (PG-13): Set in New York in 1895, 1916 and 2014, director Akiva Goldsman’s romantic drama centers on a thief (Colin Farrell) and a young heiress (Jessica Brown Findlay) — and includes a flying horse, a child saved and a man made immortal by love.

★★★½  “Anita” (not rated; for mature audiences): A look at Anita Hill, during and after contentious Senate hearings in 1991, where the law professor testified that she had been sexually harassed by Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas.

★★★½  “Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me” (not rated; for mature audiences): The Broadway legend takes the spotlight.
