Edmonds Rotary Waterfront Festival promises outdoor fun

The Edmonds Rotary Waterfront Festival fills Edmonds Marina with arts, crafts and food vendors, entertainment and kids’ activities Friday through Sunday.

With Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains and the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry terminal as a backdrop, the popular festival hosts thousands of visitors for summer fun.

Proceeds will benefit local and international charities supported by Edmonds Rotary.

Events on the main stage include the festival’s opening ceremony at 5:30 p.m. and classic rock with the Beatniks from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday, A martial arts competition, magic show, and rock music are part of the Saturday celebration and a reptile show, magic show and Hawaiian music and dance will be on display Sunday.

Bicycles, skateboards, scooters and pets, with the exception of service animals, are not allowed on the festival grounds.

In conjunction with the Waterfront Festival, the city of Edmonds will host the Watershed Fun Fair at several locations Saturday. Guided tours of Edmonds Marsh are available every 30 minutes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, along with updates on marsh restoration, geocaching activities and a “shorebird maze” for kids. There will be a ranger-guided low-tide beach walk at Olympic Beach at 1 p.m. Meet at the visitor station.

You can also learn about backyard wildlife habitat and take a guided tour at 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. at the Wildlife Habitat and Native Plant Demonstration Garden at Willow Creek Hatchery. The hatchery is open Saturday and Sunday and stops there are included in the festival shuttle.
