It’s “Her” on DVD Tuesday, May 13. Star ratings are by Seattle Times movie reviewers, freelancers or wire services. For full reviews, search the title at seattletimes.com. Release dates are subject to change.

4 stars“Her” (R): Joaquin Phoenix plays a lonely man who falls in love with the voice (Scarlett Johansson) of his software operating system in Spike Jonze’s unconventional romantic comedy, set in a slightly futuristic Los Angeles. The film — nominated for best picture, score, song and production design — won an Oscar for Jonze’s original screenplay.

2.5 stars“Stalingrad” (R; in Russian and German): Fyodor Bondarchuk’s 3D account of the World War II battle includes English subtitles that leap out at you.

2 stars“That Awkward Moment” (R): “So, where do you see this relationship going?” That’s the moment three New York pals (Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller), who have vowed to stay single, are supposed to bail. Well, that’s the plan anyway.

1.5 stars  “Is the Man Who Is Tall Happy?” (not rated; for general audiences): Michel Gondry directs this animated documentary based on a series of conversations he had with linguist and political curmudgeon Noam Chomsky.

1 stars“I, Frankenstein” (PG-13): Aaron Eckhart portrays the man-made monster — a creation “of a dozen used parts from eight different corpses” — as a brawling avenger who gets caught in a war between two immortal clans.
