Rave for cleaning kayaker and rant for the cellphone zombies
Readers weigh in on the good and the bad.
RAVE To the kayaker who ended his morning expedition along the Kirkland waterfront and unloaded garbage from his kayak — boat bumpers, Frisbees, bottles and a variety of other flotsam — into his truck to dispose of them. Thank you for cleaning up our lake while you got your morning exercise and for setting a good example.
RANT Minor rant to the postal service for delivering my package to the wrong address. OK, that happens occasionally. Major rant to the jerks at that address who kept my package! If something is delivered and your name isn’t on it, return it to the post office!
RAVE To the women at Cancer Care Alliance gift shop for buying me my first hat as my hair was almost gone from chemotherapy for breast-cancer treatment. Everyone got teary eyed. It was such a beautiful, well-needed gift.
RANT AND RAVE Rant to the restaurant patron who yelled “Hey! I want to place an order!” at the top of her lungs to the waiter serving us. Rave to the waiter who courteously apologized just as the waiter assigned to her table arrived. Our service was great, and I was able to show my son firsthand how NOT to act in a restaurant.
RAVE For Highway 202 from Redmond to North Bend, a beautiful drive! Rolling green hills, mountains in the distance, new green on the trees and cherry trees in bloom everywhere. Just lovely. I’m so glad I chose that route over the usual freeways.
RANT Don’t be looking at your phone while you’re crossing the street. It isn’t just up to other people to make sure you’re OK.
RAVE To the wonderful lady who rescued three Seattle seniors, hopelessly lost on a rainy night en route to the Cavalia show at Marymoor Park. She led us for several miles to the site, just in time for the performance. What a kind deed!
RANT To me, for not intervening as a man yelled at a 17-year-old worker for not giving him a $1 off his pizza with an expired coupon. You made her cry, you big bully. Next time I’m speaking up!
RAVE AND RANT Rave to my wonderful daughter, who took the time to help a man whose wheelchair tipped over because of a hole in the sidewalk. Rant to the many others who passed by and bigger rant to the sidewalk crew for not mending the gaping hole.
