A frock fit for a princess
Kate Middleton and Mindy Kaling end up wearing the same chic L.K. Bennett dress.

Fit for a princess, right? This springy frock, from the pricey British chain store L.K. Bennett, was worn by the former Kate Middleton last week, on her tour of Australia and New Zealand (along with Prince William and the kid, both also dressed smartly). It seemed to perfectly convey a chic but modest sweetness, complete with happy splashes of blue.
But if you thought it looked familiar, you’re right: Mindy Kaling, on “The Mindy Project” (which has, by the way, turned into a pretty great show), wore the exact same dress earlier this month. On her, it looked different but equally pretty, more playful than sweet. (Kaling, on Instagram: “UMM, Miss Duchess Whoever, I WORE this dress last week! What’s next? Kate in my donut print pajama bottoms I mean c’mon.”) The dress (in both blue and red print) is still listed on the L.K. Bennett U.S. website for $425, but is sold out in all sizes; clearly it had a very good week. Still waiting on the pajama bottoms.
