Crab, cider and mushrooms | Weekend Preview

Activities for the weekend of Oct. 11-13, 2013, include the Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival, Vashon Island CiderFest and Wild Mushroom Show. Films opening include “Captain Phillips” and “Romeo and Juliet.”

Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival: Chowder cook-off, crab feed, food and craft vendors, chef demos, children’s activities, 4-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Port Angeles (360-452-6300 or ).

“Romeo & Juliet”: This new take on Shakespeare’s tragedy was adapted by Julian Fellowes (“Downton Abbey”) and stars Douglas Booth and Hailee Steinfeld. Opens Friday at several theaters.

“Escape From Tomorrow”: A family trip to a theme park becomes a descent into madness. Opens Friday at the Sundance Cinemas.

“We Are What We Are”: A horror film re-imagining of a 2010 Mexican film of the same name, about a reclusive family. Opens Friday at the Varsity.

“Machete Kills”: Robert Rodriguez’s new action-thriller follows the title character (Danny Trejo) as he takes down an arms dealer. Late-night previews Thursday, opens Friday at several theaters.

“Linsanity”: A documentary about basketball player Jeremy Lin. Opens Friday at several theaters.

“Ghost Team One”: A horror comedy about two roommates coping with the supernatural and an amateur ghost hunter. Opens Friday at Pacific Place.
