Clothing

The DVF wrap dress

How famous is Diane von Furstenburg’s amazing jersey-knit design? One of them is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, thank you. Introduced in 1972, the versatile, go-to piece revolutionized womenswear just as many women were revolutionizing the workforce. It has that quality that all classics share: it makes getting dressed and looking great effortless. Every single time.

Kate Spade pop art collection

Kate Spade’s pop-art inspired spring collection is a bit hard to miss. The brightly colored bags, iPhone cases, wallets and other small goods adorned with Roy Lichtenstein-esque comic art — well, they pop. In Seattle’s mostly gray spring weather, these quirky, fun pieces add a bright note to any wardrobe. And who doesn’t want to walk around looking like they belong in the Museum of Modern Art?

Color

The wearin’ of the green

On St. Patrick’s Day, it seems appropriate to remember that almost everyone (particularly many of us pale Seattleites) looks terrific in green — and that Pantone, the company that decides such things, has named “Emerald” as the 2013 Color of the Year. (Last year’s color, in case you missed it, was “Tangerine Tango.”) Perhaps a new green sweater for spring? A cheery shamrock-print skirt? A green streak in your hair? Regardless, happy St. Pat’s Day.
