Soulful vocal trio Cocoa Martini plays Jazz Vespers Sunday
Cocoa Martini, Seattle’s soulful, sing-along-able vocal trio — Kimberley Reason, Kay Bailey and Nadine Shanti — performs at the Jazz Vespers program Sunday at Seattle First Baptist Church.
For more than a decade, Seattle First Baptist Church has been showcasing local jazz groups in a delightful, uplifting but decidedly unsanctimonious series called Seattle Jazz Vespers. This week the church features the soulful, sing-along-able vocal trio Cocoa Martini — Kimberly Reason, Kay Bailey and Nadine Shanti — accompanied by first-call instrumentalists Bill Anschell (piano), Chuck Kistler (bass) and Brian Kirk (drums). The event is family-friendly, dress is casual and there’s even free parking. 6 p.m. Sunday, Seattle First Baptist Church, 1111 Harvard Ave., Seattle; freewill offering will be collected (206-325-6051 or www.seattlefirstbaptist.org, search “vespers”).
