‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild,’ ‘Hope Springs’ | New DVDs
New DVD releases for Tuesday, Dec. 4, include “The Dark Knight Rises,” Christopher Nolan’s Batman conclusion; “Hope Springs,” starring Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones; and several fairy tales, “Beasts of the Southern Wild” and “The Odd Life of Timothy

“The Dark Knight Rises” (PG-13): Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy concludes with this “satisfying and often breathtaking tale of good and evil,” says Seattle Times movie critic Moira Macdonald. Christian Bale returns with several new faces, including Tom Hardy as a growling masked terrorist hellbent on destroying Gotham City and Anne Hathaway as a sleek cat burglar whose “teasing, feline rapport with Bale is a kick.”
“Beasts of the Southern Wild” (PG-13): A 6-year-old girl named Hushpuppy (Quvenzhané Wallis) embarks on a journey through a fantastical bayou world.
“Hope Springs” (PG-13): Therapy begins for a couple (Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones) whose 30-year marriage has gone stale.
“The Odd Life of Timothy Green” (PG): A husband (Joel Edgerton) and wife (Jennifer Garner) struggling with infertility discover a magical child (CJ Adams) on their doorstep.
