Cheap Fun: Free Loganberry Festival on Whidbey Island
Greenbank Farm's free Loganberry Festival is Saturday-Sunday, July 21-22.
How you gonna keep 'em down on the farm? Well, you could start with a free Loganberry Festival that doesn't limit itself to loganberries, for one thing. Much like Greenbank Farm's Back to the Farm experience, a celebration of local commerce, agriculture, recreation, natural resources and — this weekend, especially — cheap fun of the rural sort.
The festival, set on a historic farm at the center of Whidbey Island (shown here), features pie-eating contests (we're just guessing, but it might not hurt to prep your taste buds for loganberries); Farm Quest, with clues throughout the farm and prizes at the end; a 4-H and equestrian program; more food; entertainment; arts and crafts; tours; hayrides; wine and beer tasting; kids' activities; blacksmith and fleece demonstrations; professional storytellers; and dancing. And loganberries.
10 a.m.-5 p.m. July 21-22, Greenbank Farm, 765 E. Wonn Road, Greenbank, Whidbey Island; free; donations accepted for parking. More information: greenbankfarm.biz.
