Chop, chop, Cheap Funsters. Beat it over to Seattle's Museum of Flight on Saturday if you're fascinated by helicopters.

The museum hosts the American Heroes Air Show, a traveling exhibit spotlighting helicopters and the role they play in law enforcement, fire fighting, national defense, search-and-rescue and more.

More than a dozen choppers will fly in and be on display outside the museum, with no charge to watch them land and take off or inspect them on the ground. Rides will be available for $50 (if you're more into Fun than into Cheap).

Among displays will be a new Apache helicopter from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, plus a Blackhawk flown by the U.S. Border Patrol, along with helicopters flown by Airlift Northwest, KING-5 TV and the U.S. Coast Guard (such as that pictured here in rescue training on Elliott Bay).

Representatives from local flight schools, the Border Patrol, search-and-rescue units and the Coast Guard will be available to answer questions. Recruiters will also be on hand.

Helicopters will begin to arrive at 7 a.m. Saturday and will depart at 3 p.m. Gates are open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 9404 East Marginal Way S. Museum admission is extra. More information: 206-764-5720 or www.museumofflight.org.
