Tastin' n Racin' brings the roar of hydroplanes racing and an array of food vendors for tasting to Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah this weekend.
Racing Saturday and Sunday includes vintage hydroplane exhibition events with the Miss Thriftway, the Oh Boy Oberto and others roaring across the lake and on display for up-close looks and photo ops.
Eight classes of limited hydros compete both days, featuring Grand Prix supercharged boats competing for the championship cup at speeds of up to 160 miles an hour.
Saturday's Hot Boat and Bike Show includes displays of colorful sport boats out of the water. Works of art on four wheels will shine Sunday at the Classic Car Show, hosted by the Legends PNW Car Club.
Entertainment kicks off at the Hydro Happy Hour beer-garden event Friday with Beatles tribute band British Export and continues on the Main Stage all weekend with tribute bands playing the music of Tom Petty, Elvis, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Jimi Hendrix. The Seafair Pirates arrive with their swashbuckling shenanigans Sunday.
Kids' activities Saturday and Sunday include pony rides, a climbing wall, games, inflatable rides and park play areas. Along with food vendors of all kinds, dozens of craft vendors offer jewelry, clothing and more for browsing and buying.
For an up-close look at race boats and a chance to talk to drivers, pit passes are available for $5, or free for ages 9 and younger.
Parking is free, no Discover Pass needed. For future visits to Lake Sammamish and all state parks, Tastin' n Racin' will offer the annual Discover Pass, usually $30, for $20 on-site.
