On National Get Outdoors Day, free entry to state, national parks
On Saturday, June 9, get in free to parks across Washington.
If entrance fees and passes aren't in your budget in this time of tightened belts, seize the day — this Saturday, to be precise — and take advantage of free entry to state and national parks.
It's National Get Outdoors Day, and the people who run parks are taking it to heart with this invitation to bring the family and see the (outside) world, without the necessity of the customary $15 charge at the gates to Mount Rainier, pictured here, or Olympic national parks (and other national parks across America). And you can also ignore the "Discover Pass Required" signs at Washington's state parks, from Deception Pass to Lake Sammamish, for this day at least. (If you wish, invest in more park visits by purchasing the $30-a-year pass next time you renew your auto license tabs.)
