GroundFrog Day in Snohomish: "Frognosticator" and weather prophet Snohomish Slew predicts the arrival of spring with games, entertainment, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, downtown Snohomish, Second Street and Avenue D, Snohomish (425-344-8533 or www.groundfrogday.com).
At the movies
"Albert Nobbs": In this new movie (based on a short story) Glenn Close plays a 19th-century Irish woman who disguises herself as a man. It opens Friday at several theaters.
"Margaret": Kenneth Lonergan's new drama, starring Anna Paquin, deals with the aftermath of a bus accident. It opens Friday at the SIFF Cinemas at the Uptown.
"The Grey": A group of plane-crash survivors are stranded in the Alaskan wilderness in this new adventure/drama that stars Liam Neeson. It has midnight previews on Thursday, and opens at several theaters on Friday.
"How the Fire Fell": This "Northwest noir," set in 1903 Corvallis, Ore., is the new film from Portland director Edward P. Davee. It opens Friday at the Northwest Film Forum.
"Man on a Ledge": Sam Worthington ("Avatar") stars in this story of an ex-cop and escaped convict trying to establish his innocence from a hotel window. Talk about pressure. It has midnight previews on Thursday, and opens at several theaters on Friday.
"One for the Money": Former "Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl stars in this action/comedy about a divorcee who lands a job at a bail-bond business. The film co-stars Jason O'Mara, Daniel Sunjata and John Leguizamo. It also has midnight previews Thursday, and opens at several theaters on Friday.
