This weekend's Seattle Chinatown-International District Summer Festival features the gems of Pan-Asian culture — dragon dances, martial arts, hula, karaoke.

Karaoke? So maybe it's not the oldest of customs, but it's become an annual tradition at the festival, happening from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday in and around Hing Hay Park, 411 Maynard Ave. S., Seattle (206-382-1197 or cidbia.org).

Other attractions include gifts and goods vendors, food booths with everything from gyoza to gyros, an eco village and plenty of things to do for the kids.

Applications for the seventh Karaoke Idol contest are available online (www.cidbia.org/events/event.2009-03-05.0171784879). Admission to the festival is free.
