Wife surprises Hulk Hogan

Celebrity gossip, famous birthdays and other tidbits, compiled from Seattle Times news services.

Linda Hogan has filed for divorce from her wrestler husband, Hulk Hogan, The St. Petersburg Times reported. Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, told the newspaper he had no idea his wife had filed for divorce. He was informed by a reporter that Pinellas County court records showed the paperwork was submitted Tuesday. "Thank you for the great information," he told the reporter. The couple star in the VH1 reality-TV series "Hogan Knows Best," with their two children. Recent episodes show the couple attending marital counseling.

"Bachelor" bopped

Mary Delgado, a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleader who was proposed to on the reality-TV show "The Bachelor" in season six, has been accused of punching the man who picked her, Byron Velvick, in the mouth, authorities said. Delgado was taken into custody in Seminole, Fla., about 10 miles northwest of St. Petersburg, early Wednesday. She was under the influence of alcohol when she was arrested on a battery charge, according to a police affidavit. She and Velvick appeared together Tuesday in a special episode of "The Bachelor" called "After the Final Rose."

Actor bites off a new role

Actor Richard Kiel, 68, best known for playing the steel-toothed villain Jaws in two James Bond movies, has taken on a new role: author. Kiel spent 25 years researching the life of Cassius Marcellus Clay, a white plantation owner and politician who fought for the abolition of slavery and after whom the boxer Muhammad Ali and his father were named. Ali was born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr.; he changed his name in 1964.

The end of the affair

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, 54, and TV news reporter Mirthala Salinas have ended their romantic relationship, two sources said Friday. Months after revelations about the affair damaged the mayor's political standing and devastated Salinas' broadcasting career, the two sources said the relationship disintegrated weeks ago. "They've both moved on," said one person who said he learned about the breakup in October. Salinas, 37, did not respond to requests for comment. Villaraigosa's wife has filed for divorce.

Shriver hospitalized

Eunice Kennedy Shriver, 86, sister of Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., and the late President Kennedy and who founded the Special Olympics and championed the rights of the mentally retarded, has been hospitalized. Shriver was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Nov. 18 and was in fair condition Saturday, a hospital spokeswoman said. Shriver is the mother of California's first lady, Maria Shriver. The nature of the illness was not released, but son-in-law California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said in June that she had had a series of strokes.

Texas town brings $3.8M

Someone in Italy placed the winning bid of $3.8 million Friday in an online auction for the unpopulated, one-house, 13-acre town of Albert, Texas. The town about 60 miles north of San Antonio has a tavern that is open weekends. Before town owner Bobby Cave signs over the deed, he must ensure the eBay bid is legitimate.
