Elect Chad Magendanz, Republican, 5th District, Position 2
Chad Magendanz is endorsed to represent the 5th Legislative District in Olympia.
Seattle Times Editorial
CHAD Magendanz is the best candidate for the state House of Representatives from the 5th Legislative District.
The Republican is a contractor working with Microsoft and other companies on rapid development and prototyping. He brings an impressive record of public and community service.
Magendanz is the current president of the Issaquah School Board, overseeing the school district's quarter-billion-dollar annual operating budget. The district has received 10 consecutive clean state audits.
He supports critical education reforms such as strong performance evaluations for teachers. He would push for better prioritizing of state spending with education at the top of the priority list.
Magendanz is not opposed to raising revenue to meet the pressing needs of our state, but the Issaquah father of two teenagers would push for budget reforms first and raising revenue second.
Magendanz's potential to work across the aisle in Olympia is demonstrated by his work with the local teachers union and parent advocates.
Magendanz's opponent, David Spring, touts himself as the only candidate opposed by both the Democratic and Republican state parties. The North Bend Democrat does not offer a vision or ideas to match Magendanz. A third candidate, Ryan Dean Burkett, has not mounted an active campaign.
