About time. Tuba Man attacker arrested in Munchbar shooting

The news side is reporting that Lakewood police officers arrested Ja'mari Jones, one of the teens involved in the beating of Tuba Man, who is now charged with killing a man at Munchbar in Bellevue Square after the Seahawks-49ers game.

How long will prosecutors be able to keep Jones behind bars this time? Jones and two other teens served less than two years in juvenile detention after the 2008 beating of Ed McMichael, also known as Tuba Man. McMichael, who was a fixture on the sidewalks outside Seattle's sports events playing solo tuba, later died of his injuries.

Jones, 19, has now been charged with shooting DeShawn Milliken, 30. The bar was crowded with people celebrating the Seahawks' win that night, and several team players were there.

It was a mistake for the King County Juvenile Court to sentence Jones for just 72 weeks of juvenile detention after McMichael's death.

At the time of the Tuba Man beating, Jones was still a juvenile. He is now an adult. If he's guilty, King County prosecutors should be wracking their brains how to seek a maximum sentence and keep Jones behind bars for more than three years this time around. King County Superior Court judges should also take note.
