The Metropolitan King County Council on Tuesday should vote to approve new bike lockers for Metro Transit park-and-ride lots.

There are already 240 lockers in use, but the new ones make a lot more sense. They rent for a nickel an hour and work off of prepaid cards through bikelink.org.

The present lockers are rented indefinitely by paying a $50 key deposit. The problem is that those lockers may not be used everyday by the key holders, and a biker without a card can't just show up and get a spot.

Tuesday's proposal is for 68 new lockers. It's another good way of getting more people traveling on two wheels and the bus.
