More analysis, same opposition to Sodo sports arena

More analysis is coming out on the proposed Sodo arena from the news side of The Seattle Times.

In this news side story, reporter Lynn Thompson analyzes how the Sodo proposal compares to arenas built in Orlando, Brooklyn, Pittsburgh and Newark in this story from the news side.

Seattle proposed 13 traffic fixes to appease the Port of Seattle. The port says please talk to the hand, in this news story by reporter Mike Lindblom.

Our editorial board's position is that the Sodo arena should be privately funded, and it's the wrong location for another arena.

In an earlier post, I said the city consider the optics of asking the voters for funds to build a publicly accessible waterfront, while not asking the public about financing an arena accessible by ticket payers.

Here are some op eds we've run by guest columnists in the opinion section from multiple perspectives.

Cary Bozeman, former mayor of Bellevue and Bremerton, says the arena proposal should be evaluated based on the public benefit to the city.

Jean Godden, a member of the Seattle City Council, says let's not forget about the Seattle Storm in all the debate about the Sodo arena.

Here is investor group lead Chris Hansen himself talking about his motivation to bring an NBA team back to Seattle.
