What's brewing: Microsoft Microsoft Microsoft

In a few hours Microsoft is expected to unveil Office 2013, the latest version of one of its most profitable software programs. Lots of buzz about features etc. but for me it will come down to simplicity and compatibility with Apple products, such as the iPad I'm typing on right now.

In other related news, Microsoft sold its stake in MSNBC to its partner, NBC. Times columnist Brier Dudley puts the divorce in smart perspective, including a must-view timeline that reminds us just how successful the marriage was and why it came to an end. Exciting things to look forward to in the future include NBCNews.com, essentially a rebranding the tech-news partnership and the NBC News Innovation Center.
