Our recommendations for the primary election on Aug. 7, 2012

THE earlier primary this year — Aug. 7 — has everyone thinking about politics earlier than usual, including The Times editorial board. Ballots will be mailed Friday to Washington voters.

We’re still interviewing candidates for our recommendations in selected races for the primary. Below is a brief recap with more to come through the week.

Statewide

Governor – Rob McKenna (July 1)

Lieutenant governor – Brad Owen (June 19)

Insurance commissioner – Mike Kreidler (July 6)

Superintendent of public instruction – Randy Dorn (July 3)

Washington Supreme Court:

Position 2 – Susan Owens (July 6)
