No one deserves the Seahawks opportunity more than Brian Banks
Courthouses are filled with the overturned cases of people wrongly accused and convicted of crimes. But for those that believe truth is always revealed eventually, the story of Brian Banks getting a tryout with the Seattle Seahawks is about more than football, it is about triumph over evil.
Cynics will question what is in it for the Seahawks to take a look at a guy who was locked up for five years for a rape he didn't commit. Banks is a good athlete. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll recruited him to play linebacker at USC. Banks wasn't able to physically maintain top athletic form during his five years in prison; it was equally as tough during the five years he was on parole. Also training camp hasn't started. This moment is but a step in the many that will be required before Banks plays on anyone's football team. But it is the first step toward rebuilding a stolen life.
I'm not a big sports fan, but how can you not root for Brian Banks?
