PULLMAN — Washington State baseball coach Donnie Marbut was involved in an auto accident before the game Thursday night and did not coach the Cougars in a 7-3 loss to San Jose State.

According to the university, Marbut was taken to Pullman Regional Hospital for observation and was released later Thursday night. The university said he was not expected to coach Friday night when the teams meet again.

According to other reports, the accident happened 30 minutes before the game and involved three cars at the main intersection leading into the WSU campus. Marbut reportedly was dressed in his Cougars uniform.

STORM

Charde Houston, who started 26 games the two past seasons for Phoenix and averaged 9.2 points and 2.8 rebounds, has joined the Seattle Storm in a trade announced Thursday. In exchange, the Storm sent to the Mercury the rights to Ewelina Kobryn, who appeared in 51 games for Seattle in 2011 and 2012 and averaged 3.6 points and 2.0 rebounds.

NOTES

• Due to wet conditions at its normal home field, Seattle University has moved its baseball game Friday against Texas-Pan American to Triton Field at Edmonds Community College to start at 4 p.m.
