LOS ANGELES – Tia Presley scored 21 points and the Washington State women’s basketball team used a late run to beat USC 79-75 in a Pac-12 game Friday night.

USC led 71-69 before WSU (12-9 overall, 6-3 Pac-12) put together an 8-1 flurry, capped by Dawnyelle Awa’s three-point play with 22 seconds left for a 77-72 lead.

Ariya Crook made a three-pointer with 18 seconds left and USC (14-8, 7-3) was down 77-75. But Lia Galdeira grabbed an offensive rebound off a missed free throw with 14 seconds remaining, and made both of her free throws to close out scoring.

Presley, a graduate of Gonzaga Prep in Spokane, was 10 of 15 from the free-throw line and had six assists.

Awa scored 12 points and Shalie Dheensaw added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Galdeira and Taylor Edmondson had 10 points apiece.

“It was a great team effort all the way around tonight,” Cougars coach June Daugherty said.

Cassie Harberts scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead USC.

WSU was limited to 35.3 percent shooting in the first half but shot 50 percent (17 of 34) in the second half.
