WSU women victorious in tennis dual

The Washington State women’s tennis team captured five of six singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory over host Montana on Friday.

The Washington State women’s tennis team won five of six singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory over host Montana on Friday.

For the fifth straight time, the Cougars (4-1) captured the opening doubles point.

In singles, Elizaveta Luzina, Lize Leenknecht, Olga Musilovich and Dajana Ognjenovic all won for WSU.

Women’s tennis

Seattle U (0-3) took an early lead at Idaho State but the Bengals rallied for a 4-3 victory.

• Host Gonzaga beat Eastern Washington 6-1.

Men’s tennis

Host Arizona (5-4) swept to victory, 7-0 over Gonzaga (2-1).

Track and field

WSU freshman Alissa Brooks-Johnson won the women’s pentathlon (3,521) and Austin Sodorff won the men’s pole vault (16-4¾) at the Cougar Indoor.


Rachel Olson, a two-sport athlete at Northwest University, and the 1993 Eagles men’s basketball team will be inducted into the school hall of fame March 21.

• Both teams from Washington, Team Vukich (men) and Team Sweet (women), have made the playoff round at the U.S. Junior National Curling Championships at Seattle’s Granite Curling Club.
