Player of the Game
Utah running back John White carried more than his share of the load, rushing 42 times for 186 yards and two touchdowns. The 5-foot-8, 186-pound junior scored twice in the fourth quarter, including a 56-yarder that gave the Utes a 27-17 lead.
Play of the Game
Faced with third-and-25 from the 40 in overtime, WSU's Connor Halliday threw an interception. That was the break Utah needed. White then carried three times for 3 yards before Utah kicked the winning field goal.
By the Numbers
4 In his first college start, Washington State freshman quarterback Connor Halliday threw four interceptions, three in the first quarter. He completed 21 of 48 passes for 290 yards.
34 The teams combined for 34 points in the fourth quarter (17 for each team) after scoring a combined 20 in the first three quarters.
8 The Cougars will not play in a bowl for the eighth straight season. WSU has gone bowl-less since beating Texas in the Holiday Bowl in 2003 in Bill Doba's first season as coach.
