Washington State starting defensive tackle A'I Ahmu was arrested and ticketed for a misdemeanor alcohol offense Saturday night on campus, according to Pullman police.
Police responded to a trespassing complaint at the Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity, according to The Spokane Spokesman-Review, and Ahmu, 20, reportedly admitted to breaking a window but the fraternity didn't want to press charges after he agreed to pay for the damage. He was arrested for being a minor in a public place exhibiting affects of having consumed alcohol.
"He is suspended while coaches look into the matter further," said WSU sports information director Bill Stevens.
Ahmu is the second Cougar known to have been arrested this month. Safety Xavier Hicks was arrested for second-degree assault on Jan. 10. In a separate case, Hicks pleaded not guilty Friday in Whitman County Superior Court to second-degree theft for use of a credit card that didn't belong to him, according to The Moscow-Pullman Daily News.
Notes
• Reserve DB Cornorris Atkins has transferred to Western Arizona College.
• Former QB recruit Arkelon Hall has signed a letter of intent to play at Memphis. Hall redshirted in 2005 and left WSU after the 2006 season.
