WSU adds, loses football foes

Seattle Times staff

Home-and-away series with Wisconsin, Minnesota, Hawaii and UNLV have been added to future Washington State football schedules.

In another development, Ohio State has canceled its 2009 game against WSU, which likely would have been played in Seattle. In a news release, WSU athletic director Jim Sterk said the Buckeyes have indicated they will pay a financial penalty for canceling the game, which was a return engagement for the Cougars' 2002 trip to Columbus.

The Cougars will open their 2007 season at Wisconsin on Sept. 1, host the Badgers in 2013 then play in 2014 at Wisconsin.

WSU will play at Minnesota on Sept. 18, 2010, and then open the 2011 season at home Sept. 3 against the Gophers.

The Cougars will play at Hawaii on Nov. 29, 2008, to conclude the regular season and the Rainbows will play in Pullman on Sept. 12, 2009. The Cougars will return to Hawaii after the Apple Cup in 2011.

Games with UNLV will be played in 2011 and 2012.
