WSU Game day: Cougars at Utah
A closer look at Saturday’s game
5 p.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium
TV: Pac-12 Networks. Radio: 770 AM
Mind game: The Cougars spent a lot of emotion against Oregon, while Utah had an uplifting win at Michigan last week. Which team finds the right mind-frame?
Winging it: Last week was probably Halliday’s best game at WSU, and in his last 10 games, he has 32 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions. Utah’s secondary had a mere three interceptions last year but equaled that at Michigan.
Conference call: It’s the Pac-12 opener for both, as the Cougars need to take a step toward bowl viability and Utah tries to begin to reverse a 9-18 league record since it joined in 2011.
Gimme that: WSU has only three takeaways in 2014 and a minus-5 turnover margin. That’s not a number that usually enhances the chance of victory.
Prediction: Utah 38, WSU 24.
