Washington State, Oregon State advance to CBI semifinals

Brock Motum scored a game-high 25 points to lead Washington State to a 61-41 victory over Wyoming on Monday night at Pullman's Beasley Coliseum in the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational.

Brock Motum scored a game-high 25 points to lead Washington State to a 61-41 victory over Wyoming on Monday night at Pullman's Beasley Coliseum in the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational.

Abe Lodwick chipped in 16 points for the Cougars (17-16), hitting 4 of 7 from three-point range. Motum and Lodwick tied for game-high rebounding honors with seven apiece.

Washington State led just 26-21 at halftime, but used a 10-2 run over a 7 ½ minute stretch of the second half to pull away from the Cowboys.

Leonard Washington scored 14 points and Adam Waddell added 13 for Wyoming (21-12), which entered 4-1 all-time against WSU.

Washington State next will face Pac-12 foe Oregon State in a semifinal game at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Corvallis.

Jared Cunningham hit 10 of 12 shots for a game-high 27 points, leading four players in double figures for the Beavers (21-14), who fell one point shy of the tournament scoring record and stayed hot with their sixth win in the past seven games.
