Fagaly, Hayward lead Husky softball win over SU
Hooch Fagaly opened the scoring with a solo home run in the second inning and later added a two-run single to lead visiting Washington past Seattle U, 11-0, in nonconference softball play at Logan Field on Tuesday.
Victoria Hayward contributed a two-run double and a two-run single for ninth-ranked Washington (22-10). The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
UW pitchers Bryana Walker and Kaitlin Inglesby shut down the Redhawks (11-24) on four hits.
• Gonzaga forward Sam Dower Jr. will play for the West in Friday’s Division I College All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas, as part of Final Four weekend.
• Gonzaga’s Haiden Palmer was named an Associated Press honorable-mention women’s All-American.
• Western Washington center Austin Bragg and guard Richard Woodworth were honorable-mention picks on the Division II Bulletin All-America team.
• Western Washington moved up six places to finish eighth at the Western New Mexico University Women’s Golf Spring Invitational in Goodyear, Ariz. Anna Bourland, a junior from Bainbridge, led the Vikings with a 21-place finish at 79-76—155.
