Washington State women lose at Syracuse | College basketball

Kayla Alexander scored 18 points to lead Syracuse to a 64-51 victory over the Washington State women. WSU dropped to 3-7.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Kayla Alexander scored 18 points to lead Syracuse to a 64-51 victory over Washington State on Friday.

Freshman Lia Galdeira led the Cougars (3-7) with 16 points and Tia Presley, a graduate of Gonzaga Prep in Spokane, added 14.

WSU was limited to 32 percent shooting (19 of 60), including 15 percent (3 of 20) on three-point tries.

Attendance was 371; the Carrier Dome seats 34,616.

Syracuse (11-1) has won 52 consecutive home nonconference games.

Layshia Clarendon scored a season-high 28 points to lead the Golden Bears (9-1) past the Jayhawks (9-2).

At Portland 68, Oregon 49

Kari Luttinen, a Seattle Prep graduate, had game-high totals of 22 points and five steals to help the Pilots (5-7) defeat the Ducks (2-9).

Texas Tech 66,

Oregon St. 48

The Raiders (9-2) built a 22-point halftime lead and were outscored 32-28 by the Beavers (6-6) in the second half in Las Vegas.

UC Davis 78, at USC 69

The Aggies (4-4) beat the Women of Troy (3-6), who were without coach Michael Cooper.

Former NBA player Cooper served a one-game suspension because of an NCAA secondary violation involving use of an ineligible player in practice.
