CHENEY — Vernon Adams' 9-yard touchdown run with 8:13 to play capped a second-half rally, and Eastern Washington blocked a late field-goal attempt Saturday to beat UC Davis 31-28 and move into a first-place tie in the Big Sky Conference.

Adams' score came after Kyle Padron hit Greg Herd for a 51-yard touchdown to pull the Eagles (8-2, 6-1) to 28-24. Later, UC Davis lined up to attempt a tying 52-yard field goal with 44 seconds left, but David Gaylord blocked it to seal the win.

Eastern's Demitrius Bronson finished with 63 yards rushing and two first-quarter touchdowns. That gave the Eagles a 14-3 lead before the Aggies (3-7, 2-5) scored 21 unanswered points on Randy Wright's 72-yard touchdown pass to Corey Galindo and Dalton Turay's two short scoring runs.

Dixie State 19

The Wildcats (7-4, 7-3 GNAC) clinched the Great Northwest Athletic Conference title outright after an easy victory coupled with Western Oregon's 38-22 victory over Humboldt State.

The Wildcats were led by a 192-yard, three-touchdown performance by freshman running back Jordan Todd and a solid game from senior quarterback Ryan Robertson. He was 18 of 19 for 249 yards and three touchdown passes. Robertson completed his final 15 passes to tie Zak Hill's school record.

Dixie State's (3-8, 3-7 GNAC) offense saw three different quarterbacks during the season finale and each had a touchdown pass. Junior quarterback Griff Robles went 9 of 23 for 150 yards, including a touchdown to Zack Fox. Kaleo Nawahine threw a TD to Mitch Frei and Brody Garr threw a TD to Brock Johnson.

Central senior safety Kevin Puckett had his second interception of the season — both of which came against Dixie State and both of which were returned for touchdowns.

Pacific Lutheran 38, at Menlo 21

Dalton Ritchey threw for 342 yards and four touchdowns and ran for a score as the Lutes (7-2) rolled past Menlo (4-6) in their season finale.

After keeping for a 2-yard TD, Ritchie threw TD passes to Kyle Warner, Connor Cummings, Lucas Sontra and Daniel Herr.

Herr had six catches for 186 yards.

At Whitworth 37, Lewis & Clark 20

Ronnie Thomas ran for 251 yards and three touchdowns to lead Whitworth to a come-from-behind win over Lewis & Clark in the season finale.

The Pirates finish the season 7-3 overall and 3-3 (fourth place) in the NWC. The Pioneers end the year 4-5, 1-5 after a 4-0 start.

Bryan Peterson completed 14 of 27 passes for 159 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He did plenty of damage with his legs as well, running for 96 yards on 17 attempts. Teammate Jake DeGooyer had eight catches for 98 yards in his final game.

At Willamette 55, Puget Sound 0

Josh Dean threw for 358 yards and four touchdowns and ran for two TDs as the Bearcats (8-2, 4-2 NWC) crushed the Loggers (0-9, 0-6) in Puget Sound's season finale.

Terrell Malley had three receiving TDs and finished with 119 yards on nine catches. Benny Weischedel had eight catches for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Austin Wagner rushed for 98 yards on 20 carries for the Loggers and Adam Kniffin had 14 catches for 90 yards.
