Driving the Karr

Senior guard Taelor Karr, in her second season with Gonzaga after transferring from Kansas State, will try to guide the Bulldogs to their eighth straight regular-season conference title and fifth straight trip to the NCAA tournament.

Who plays the middle?

Kayla Standish was an undersized center last season, but at least she had experience and could play the position. Who will replace her? Coach Kelly Graves has options and even better size than years past, but needs one to take the lead.

Scoreboard

The Zags ranked 10th in the nation in scoring last season. Junior Haiden Palmer was asked to handle the ball more last season, averaging 4.5 assists, but will be back to her shooting guard role with others available to handle the point.

Poll busters

Gonzaga was overlooked in national and conference preseason polls. Think the team cares? They still expect to be playing in the NCAA tournament come March.

Connections

Freshman guard Elle Tinkle's sister is a starter at No. 4 Stanford, wing Chelsea Waters' father played at Idaho and freshman guard Michaela O'Rourke's cousin is a former Stanford hoopster.
