PULLMAN — Washington State linebacker Sekope Kaufusi was dismissed from the football team Friday for a violation of team rules.

Pullman police said Kaufusi was arrested Wednesday night and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after they served a search warrant on his apartment.

Two linebackers have been dismissed since Mike Leach was named WSU coach in November.

C.J. Mizell was dismissed last month after being arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor assault and trespassing at a fraternity party.

Mizell was fourth on the team with 56 tackles last season and Kaufusi was seventh in tackles with 42.

Linebacker Alex Hoffman-Ellis, who led WSU with 88 tackles, was a senior last season. The Cougars will not return a starting linebacker for the 2012 season.
