Inglemoor senior Mark McLaughlin, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, committed this weekend to play basketball at Nevada.
He visited Nevada last weekend, and after consulting with his family, he decided it was best to cancel his scheduled visits to Oregon and Illinois.
Both Nevada's NCAA tournament record and its recent success in sending players to the NBA played a part in McLaughlin's decision. He also liked that Nevada had three other players from the Seattle area.
"It just seems like they just keep getting better and better," McLaughlin said. "I just want to get to the tournament, and they've gone the past four or five years."
McLaughlin had committed to Washington State this summer, but he reconsidered because he thought he rushed his decision. He said he was much more confident in his choice this time.
"This is just the right fit," he said. "I'm not going to go back on this one."
