The Bellevue First Congregational Church has bought a three-story office building a few blocks south of its current site for $15 million, public records show.

Lead Pastor Kevin Brown said Wednesday that it would be years before the church was ready to move to the 1.2-acre property on Northeast Second Street. The 25,000 square-foot Atrium Building was built in 1978, records show.

Last month the church sold the 1.5-acre site where it has held services since 1901 for $30 million to an investment group with ties to China. The campus at Northeast Eighth Street and 108th Avenue Northeast comprises the church and an office building called the Bradford Center.

The church has about 500 members.

“After more than 110 years in this location, we only have to move away three or four blocks,” Brown said. “For that we feel very grateful and lucky.”
