Jeff Cook was named chief financial officer at Seattle-based Port Blakely Cos., which owns and manages operations in forestry, forest-products exports and real estate with operations in the Pacific Northwest and New Zealand.

Cook has experience in senior financial-management positions in public and private companies with multinational operations. Cook previously worked at Heartland, a real-estate advisory and investment firm in Seattle.

Banking: Kathrine Shairrick was promoted to senior vice president, service and operations, at 1st Security Bank, Mountlake Terrace.

Consulting: Aaron Hoffer joined The Alacer Group in Bellevue as a senior consultant and leader of the new Alacer Center for Advanced Computing.

Corporate training: Jenn Wiles was named vice president of sales at Oxygen Learning, Seattle.

Engineering: Yuhe Yang was hired as a senior consultant at Parametrix in Bellevue. Marcus Elliott joined Everett-based Perteet as a senior project manager for its Transportation Design group.

Health care: Dr. Grant Lohse and Dr. Silas Marshall joined Proliance Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Bellevue and Issaquah.

Hotels: Masab El-Himri was hired as director of rooms at Cedarbrook Lodge, Seattle. Jacque Pratt was appointed director of revenue management at Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle.

Insurance: Dave Haldi was named director of corporate development at Trupanion pet insurance, Seattle.
