King County unemployment is 4.3 percent
King County’s unemployment rate edged down from 4.4 percent the previous month.
King County’s unemployment rate edged down to 4.3 percent in May from 4.4 percent the previous month, the state Employment Security Department reported.
The county-level rate, which is not seasonally adjusted, also dropped in Snohomish County to 4.7 percent from 4.9 percent.
In Pierce County, however, the rate rose to 8.4 percent, reversing a substantial drop in April to 8.1 percent from March’s 8.9 percent.
Last week Employment Security reported that joblessness in the Seattle metro area, which includes Bellevue and Everett, fell to 4.7 percent in May, down from 5.1 percent a month earlier on a seasonally adjusted basis.
That’s the area’s lowest unemployment rate since August 2008.
