Hedreen scales back Greyhound project
Developer R.C. Hedreen is scaling back plans for the Greyhound block in downtown Seattle by eliminating an office tower and shrinking the residential component.
The company said it plans a 43-story building with more than 1,500 hotel rooms, 150 units of affordable housing and a six-level podium that holds banquet and meeting space as well as 30,000 to 40,000 square feet of retail.
Hedreen had previously outlined plans for a second tower with 350,000 square feet of office space. That version called for 600 apartments but only 1,200 hotel rooms.
The company said the project, on a full block bounded by 8th and 9th Avenues, and Howell and Stewart Streets, will be the largest convention hotel north of San Francisco when completed in early 2017.
